Wee Shepherds

Bible stories for ages 3 to 12

Little shepherds, big stories.

A calm, advert-free Bible story app for UK families: stories to read together, gentle activities and a weekly family devotion, all from the World English Bible.

How it works

  1. A grown-up sets up

Sign in with an e-mail link (no password), then add each child with a first name and an age group. That is all we ask.

  2. Children read and play

Short Bible stories, then a gentle activity: a quiz, a matching game, colouring, a memory verse or a quiet moment to think. It all works offline.

  3. The family talks it over

Every story comes with questions to chat about, and a weekly devotion follows the Christian year. No scores, no streaks, no rush.

Safe by design

Children's privacy comes first. These are rules we build by, not features we sell.

  • Kept in the UK

Your family's data is stored in London, under UK GDPR and the ICO Children's Code.

  • No adverts, no tracking

No analytics, no third-party scripts, no ad networks. Children's screens talk only to us.

  • A first name is all it takes

No surname, photo or date of birth. Children never sign in; the grown-up does.

  • A PIN for grown-up things

Settings, reminders and progress sit behind a 4-digit PIN that only your device knows.

  • Reviewed by a real person

Every story and activity is read and approved by a named reviewer before it is published.

  • Yours to take or delete

Download everything we hold, or delete it, whenever you like.

Something for every age

  • Ages 3–4

Very short stories, big buttons, simple matching and colouring to do together.

  • Ages 5–7

Stories with the verse alongside, quizzes that gently show the answer, and a memory verse to learn.

  • Ages 8–12

Longer stories, questions to reflect on and verses to learn by heart.

A devotion for the whole family

Each week brings a short family devotion that follows the Christian year: Advent, Lent, Easter and the weeks in between. Read the story, say the verse, and talk about it over tea. If you like, a gentle reminder can nudge you on the day that suits your family.

Questions grown-ups ask

Which Bible translation do you use?

The World English Bible, which is in the public domain. Scripture is always shown word for word and kept separate from our own retellings, which are clearly labelled.

Which churches is it for?

It is written to sit comfortably across Christian traditions: the Bible, the Christian year, and questions rather than doctrine. Families are invited to add their own church's voice.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Once you have opened the app, stories and activities are saved on the device, so it works on a train, at Gran's or in the car.

Do children need an account?

No. A grown-up signs in, and children simply choose their name and avatar.

How do I put it on a home screen?

On iPhone and iPad, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android and desktop Chrome, use the Install button when it appears, or the browser menu.

Ready to meet Woolly?

Open the app, add your children and read the first story together.
